On April 24, the awards were announced at the China Engineering Robot Competition and the International Open Competition in 2019. After four days of fierce competition, the delegate team of postgraduate group of School of Physics (the 2018 Masters of Electronic and Communications Engineering: Yi Ming, Li Nan and Yu Yan; instructor: Assistant Professor Huang Jipeng) won the first prize in China.
More than 8,000 teachers and students from 1,726 teams from 301 universities in China participated in the competition. The China Engineering Robot Competition and the International Open Competition, sponsored by the Teaching Steering Committee of Innovative Methods of Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, has been held for eight consecutive sessions. It is the most popular and influential professional public welfare competition for engineering robots in China. Competition items include artificial intelligence, engineering off-road, humanoid fighting, handling engineering, bipedal race, aerial robots, robot racing and so on.
In recent years, Master of Electronic and Information Engineering graduate students in Physics College have been trained with engineering practice as the main driving force, constantly strengthening the education reform of Master of Engineering and multi-dimensional strengthening of students' practical ability, which will give full play to the carrier role of robot competition in the cultivation of students' innovative quality. Moreover, the training is replaced with competition to enhance students' practical ability and sense of teamwork. It surly can promote innovation in engineering practice and the high autonomous learning ability.
