Overview
NENU attaches great importance to the development of international cooperation and academic exchanges. With the guidance of the idea of running school openly, NENU has established cooperation and exchange relations with more than 150 universities and colleges and research institutions in over 20 countries, including the USA, Canada, Japan, the UK, Korea, Australia, and Russia, and has developed series of important cooperation and exchange programs, which have enlightened the school to improve the over-all academic level and the cultivation of talents.
Since 2000, NENU has invited and appointed more than 80 foreign experts, represented by the Noble Prize winner, Prof. Yang Zhenning, as honorary professors or visiting professors, and invited more than 300 long-term foreign experts and scholars to teach in NENU. Over 100 teachers have been sent abroad for further study or to visit each year, and more than 30 international and regional academic conferences have been held, important cooperative research programs have been developed to promote academic exchanges. At present, NENU is working on the programs of "3+1" and "2+2" for undergraduates joint degree with foreign universities to broaden the scope of students' development. It has established Confucius College respectively in Korea and Spain. The Preparatory School for Chinese Students to Japan (PSCSJ) has become a world-famous training school for students studying in Japan supported by the state. About 6000 persons have graduated from the school over the past 26 years, making it a bridge of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. |

Division of International Cooperation and Exchange
International Cooperation and Exchange of NENU is to administrate foreign affairs and coordinate international exchanges and cooperation. Its primary functions are organizing activities related to foreign affairs, and providing teaching organizations with information on teaching, scientific research, and international academic exchanges. It is also responsible for planning, implementing and supervising foreign affairs activities, recruiting overseas students (including those from Hong-Kong, Macao and Taiwan), inviting and admitting foreign experts, inspecting and certifying cooperative teaching projects, processing and managing short-termed (less than three months) teaching-abroad applications and students business trips abroad, dealing with cooperation and exchanges with areas of Hong-Kong, Macao and Taiwan. |

Preparatory School for Chinese Students to Japan (PSCSJ)
Directly under the Ministry of Education, PSCSJ (also called the Training Center of Ministry of Education for Studying Overseas) was established in Northeast Normal University (NENU) in 1979 according to the agreement of Sino-Japan culture educational exchange. PSCSJ, sponsored by the Chinese and Japanese governments, is the sole specialized school for the short-termed intensive Japanese language training for Chinese students to Japan and the largest program on cooperation and exchanges in education between Chinese and Japanese government after the normalization of Sino-Japan diplomatic relations. PSCSJ was designated as the English Training Base for the visiting scholars in Northeast China to English speaking countries in 2003…… |
