The Asian regional tournament (Nanjing Station) of the 44th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest was held at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics from October 26th to 27th. More than 2,000 teams from over 300 universities participated in the tryout on the Internet on September 1st. Finally 334 teams from 176 universities all over the country gained the qualification for the final in Nanjing. Among them, two teams of NENU qualified for the Nanjing final. After five hours' fierce competition, the team composed of Year-two student Chen Yu and Liang Yiping, and Year-one student Zhao Mengyu, guided by Zhou Zhiguo, a teacher from the School of Information Science and Technology won the silver medal. The other team composed of Year-one students Bao Yihang, Tang Jiacheng and Yang Weiwu, guided by Luo Na won the bronze medal. ACM-ICPC was initiated by the Association for Computing Machinery in 1970. As an International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), it is an annual competition that aims to show the students' innovation ability, team spirit and the ability to programme, analyze and solve problems under pressure.
After nearly 40 years of development, ICPC has become the most influential computer competition for college students, and is known as the Olympics in the field of computer software. It has been held for 43 years until 2019.
