Sponsored by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and undertaken by Beijing Foreign Studies University, the "National Russian Contest for College Students in 2019" was held from October 25th to 27th. A Year-four undergraduate Pan Zhenyi (advisor: LecturerYan Lanlan) and a Year-two undergraduate Dong Zihe (advisor: Associate Professor Xuan Zhiyin) who major in Russian from the School of Foreign Languages of NENU, won the second prize of the senior group and the third prize of the junior group respectively. A Year-one postgraduate of Russian translation (advisor: Professor Gao Guocui) won the second prize in the speech competition. The winners will be fully funded by the Secretariat of China Scholarship Council to study or pursue a degree in Russia.
The National Russian Contest for College Students is one of the five major institutionalization projects in the field of education of the "National Year" and "Language Year" activities between China and Russia. The main purpose is to promote Sino-Russian exchanges in the humanities field, and to select, train and reserve talents of Russian for the country. The contest attracted 359 contestants from 144 universities within China.
