On November 2, at the opening ceremony of the "2019 China Geography Congress and the 110th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese Geographical Society" held in Beijing National Convention Center, Professor Jing Guihe, a 93 year-old retired teacher from School of Geographical Sciences of NENU, won the "2019 Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Geographical Society - Lifetime Achievement Award" and Professor Bai E of School of Geographical Sciences won the "2019 Science and Technology Award of Chinese Geographical Society - Youth Science and Technology Award ".
The Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Geographical Society was established by the Chinese Geographical Society. The "Lifetime Achievement Award" aims to commend the researchers and educators who are over 75 years old and have made outstanding contributions to the research and teaching of Geography in China. It is the highest honor in the field of Geography in China. This year, there are five geographers in China who have won the award. The "Youth Science and Technology Award" is awarded in young geographers who have made outstanding contributions to national scientific and technological innovation, economic development and social progress and it has been established to promote the growth of geographical science and technology talents. This year, there are 10 young geographers in China who have won this award.
