From August 23 to 25, the 18th Congress of the China Zoological Society and the 24th Annual Academic Conference was held in Xi'an. The 18th Council of the China Zoological Society was elected. Professor Feng Jiang from School of Environment, chairman of Jilin Zoological Society, was re-elected as vice-chairman and Professor Wang Haitao from School of Life Sciences of NENU was elected as member of the council. Established in 1934, the China Zoological Society has 18 sub-branches and 12 working committees. It is connected with local societies of 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, and has 17,589 members. The Society has founded nine academic journals, such as Avian Research and Journal of Zoology, which have made important contributions to the prosperity and development of Animal Science in China.
