On May 23rd, the second seminar of the 8th Disciplinary Evaluation Group (World History) of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council was held in NENU. Present at the meeting are Professor Han Dongyu, Vice President of NENU, Professor Wang Lixin from Peking University, Professor Li Jianming from Fudan University, member of the evaluation group, Professor Xing Guangcheng of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Yang Gongle of Beijing Normal University, Professor Ha Quanan of Tianjin Normal University, Professor Mu Tao of East China Normal University, Professor Zhao Xuegong (Secretary-General) of Nankai University, and Professor Dong Haozhi (Secretary) of the School of History and Culture of NENU, and the meeting was presided over by Han Dongyu.
At the meeting, Wang Lixin first introduced the overall situation of the writing of the first-level discipline development report of world history. Subsequently, the participating experts summarized the development of the discipline of world history from the seven aspects of discipline overview, discipline foundation, talent training, scientific research, social services, comparative analysis and future prospects, which in light of the overall framework of the development report, clarified the connotation, history, and direction of the discipline of world history, sorted out the discipline layout, faculty and support conditions, summarized the scale, mode and effectiveness of disciplinary personnel training, reviewed the research progress and major achievements in various fields of discipline of world history, analyzed the advantages, deficiencies and challenges of the discipline, and envisioned the development trend and future development goal of the discipline. Professor Yan Shaoxiang of Capital Normal University, member of the disciplinary evaluation group, also put forward relevant suggestions via email. Han Dongyu made further arrangements around the task division and schedule of the revision of the first-level discipline development report of world history.
At this conference, the participating experts reached a broad consensus on the main issues of the construction of the discipline of world history, which laid a solid foundation and clarified the direction for the development of the discipline of world history.
