Recently, at the invitation of NENU, Professor Xu Wansheng, Professor Lu Chunyan, Associate Professor Zhang Gaojie, and Associate Professor Pan Yuanqiang from the Information Engineering University came to NENU for academic exchanges. Xu Wansheng and his team had academic exchanges with NENU’s team of the East Asian history on the topic of “Disciplinary Construction in the Perspective of New Liberal Arts”. The symposium was presided over by Professor Han Dongyu, the Vice President of NENU.
At the meeting, Xu Wansheng introduced the history and professional advantages of the Luoyang campus of the Information Engineering University, emphasizing that “national security” is an interdisciplinary addition to the “new liberal arts”, and its development requires close cooperation with basic disciplines. The subject of East Asian history at NENU has enjoyed a high reputation in China for a long time, and it is hoped that both parties can further strengthen exchanges and achieve complementary advantages in academic research. Han Dongyu pointed out that the NENU’s team of East Asian history, through basic and theoretical research, is committed to the responsibility of “academic defense”; the discourse ambition of “breaking through the island chain”; the regional ideal of “East Asia integration”, and the human care of “world harmony”. Historical research requires long-term academic accumulation, while the development of national security requires close and efficient attention to current affairs and frontier issues. The “slowness” of historical research and the “fastness” of national security, featuring their respective strengths will contribute to the peace of mankind and the well-being of the world. The two parties exchanged views on issues such as discipline construction and team building. The broad vision and unique insights left deep impressions on the teachers and students present at the symposium.
