In order to learn the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party, implement the spirit of the meeting of the Ministry of Education’s Philosophy and Social Sciences Knowledge System Construction and the University Consultative Ability Improvement Project Promotion Conference, and implement the work plan of NENU’s special seminar on the high-quality development of philosophy and social sciences, the School of Political Science and Law held a work meeting to study the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party and the high-quality development of scientific research on October 26th. Han Dongyu, Vice President of NENU, and Bai Bing, Director of the Social Science Department, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Li Hongquan, dean of the School of Political Science and Law.
At the meeting, Han Dongyu introduced the spirit of Minister Huai Jinpeng’s speech at the promotion meeting, pointing out that the launch of the implementation of the philosophy and social sciences knowledge system construction and university consultative capacity service improvement project is held in the context of the comprehensive implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s proposition of the times that “accelerating the construction of philosophy and social science with Chinese characteristics is ultimately the construction of China’s independent knowledge system”. Launching and implementing the project of building the knowledge system of philosophy and social sciences and improving the consultativeservices of colleges and universities is the practical need to cope with the global major changes unseen in a century and serve the overall situation of the great rejuvenation strategy of the Chinese nation, the inherent need to accelerate the modernization of education and build a strong country in education, and the objective need to make up for the shortcomings of philosophy and social sciences in colleges and universities. Bai Bing gave guidance from the aspects of organized scientific research, strengthening the construction of discipline connotation, planning interdisciplinary development, and producing landmark results.
Subsequently, Zhan Xin, vice dean of the School of Political Science and Law, introduced the disciplinary advantages and characteristics of the School of Political Science and Law and the scientific research achievements made in recent years, and put forward measures to accelerate the construction of knowledge system and the ability of university consultative services from five aspects, such as cultivating and promoting major topics, strengthening the organized cultivation of various scientific research projects, building a new type of think tank, building regional country research based on Northeast Asia, and cultivating social science innovation teams. Faculty representatives Professor Sun Tanghou and Professor Zhang Liwen shared their thoughts on producing high-level results to support the construction of China’s independent knowledge system from the perspectives of CPC history and political science.
At the meeting, all teachers of the School of Political Science and Law held group discussions on how to build a knowledge system and improve the ability of university consultative services. They held that the 20th CPC National Congress scientifically planned the goals, tasks, and major policies for the development of the cause of the Party and the state in the next five years or even longer, and provided a clear direction for comprehensively building a modern socialist country and comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The report of the 20th National Congress particularly highlights the development strategies of education, science and technology, and talents, puts forward higher requirements for the development of philosophy and society, and provides a broader stage for political science, law, public management and other disciplines. In the future, the teachers of the whole school should take the spirit of the 20th National Congress as guidance, focus on the major strategic needs of the Party and the state, be brave in keeping integrity and innovation, explore a more effective organized scientific research system, and contribute to the high-quality and prosperous development of the overall scientific research work of NENU.
