On November 20th, the International School of Chinese Studies of NENU, the Confucius Institute of Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology of Canada and the Department of Language Studies of UTSC of Toronto University jointly held the “The Way of Chinese Teaching and Research of 2022: International Chinese Education Forum”.
The forum took place online, and more than 210 colleagues, teachers and students from more than ten universities at home and abroad, including Canada, Tianjin University and NENU, attended the meeting. Keith Monrose, Director of International Exchange Department and Foreign Dean of Confucius Institute of Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology of Canada, and Jin Xiaoyan, Dean of International School of Chinese Studies, delivered speeches respectively. The forum was presided over by Qi Xin, the Chinese president of Confucius Institute of Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology of Canada.
At the meeting, Professor Cai Wei from the University of Calgary, Professor Wang Renzhong from McGill University, Associate Professor Fang Xinxin from Concordia University in Edmonton, Associate Professor Wu Xiaoyan from the University of Toronto, Associate Professor Lu Ming and Associate Professor Zhang Liman from the International School of Chinese Studies of NENU gave speeches entitled “Research-based Chinese Second Language Listening Teaching Practice”, “Open Chinese Teaching Materials: Significance and Feasibility” and “Connecting the Past with the Future, Carrying forward the Past and Forge ahead into the Future-the Design and Interaction of Online Chinese Teaching”, “A Discussion on the Extended Teaching of Chinese Characters in Level One of International Chinese Education Standards”, “Enlightenment of Motivation Theory on Chinese Classroom Teaching”, and “Strategies of Language and Culture Integration Based on New Standards”. Finally, Qi Xin made a closing speech.
This forum has saw in-depth exchanges and discussions on Chinese teaching of listening, interactive classroom teaching, online teaching, textbook compilation, and how to connect with the new standards, etc., which broadens the academic horizons of teachers and students of the school, and is of great significance for building an international communication and exchange platform and promoting the discipline construction and professional development of the school.
