From April 6th to May 5th, Sun Zhigang, the famous American scholar, expert of media research project and “Chair Professor” of NENU, was invited by the School of Media and Sciences to work and give lectures in NENU.
While at school, according to the work protocol, besides opening related courses for undergraduates and postgraduates, Sun Zhigang gave ten special lectures such as “Analysis of the Whole Process for American Media Research Project”, “ Research into Practical Media”, “Characteristics of Media Industry under Media Convergence”, “How to write Media Research Report” and “Academic English Writing”. He also had “one-to-one” academic dialogue with teachers and gave guidance to their topic design, data statistics, thesis writing, thesis contribution and publishing concerning the research into the mass media.
As a well-known Chinese American scholar in the field of communication, Sun Zhigang worked as the academic director of senior social research center at the School of Journalism, University of Missouri, USA for the past ten plus years. He has presided over one thousand research projects concerning public policies, public health news, the mass communication and media effects. He is also the paper appraiser of the international academic journals such as Mass Communication and Society, Journal of Health Communication, Newspaper Research Journal, Journal of Asian Communication and Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly.
