Overview
Scientific research is the basis for strengthening the university. With the guide of this fundamental principle, the scientific research of Northeast Normal University has made significant achievements. Since 2001, NENU has taken charge of 1700 scientific research projects (above provincial or departmental level) with funding of almost 390 million Yuan. To date, NENU has undertaken 40 significant social science projects for the Ministry of Education. Also, there have been 96 natural science projects for the "High Tech Research and Development ("863") Program", the "973 Program", and the Ministries of Education and Technology. There are 3,000 articles from NENU having been selected for the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) since 2001. The number of articles selected for the Science Citation Index (SCI) increased to 255 in 2004. As a result, NENU ranked 28th in 2004, compared with the 58th position in the List of China's Renown Universities in 2000.
Since 2001, NENU has received 330 social science awards above the provincial level, among which there were 16 state-level awards. 4 Excellent Achievements Award for National Educational Science. In addition, NENU has one project awarded second prize for National University Technology Progress, 6 awards of the State Technology Progress Prize nominated by the Ministry of Education, and 2 awards of second prize for Technology Progress by the Ministry of Education. 1 first prize and 2 second prizes for Natural Science of Colleges¡¯ Science and Technology Award, 1 second prize for colleges¡¯ Technology Progress Award.
