According to the latest list of 2005 Creative Teams under "Plans for Developing Yangtze Scholar and Creative Team" released by Ministry of Education,one of NENU's projects on genetics, which is undertaken by Prof. Liu Bao, was approved and will be granted a financial aid of 3 million yuan.
Creative Team under "Plans for Developing Yangtze Scholar and Creative Team" is the highest level project in the scheme of "Plans for Creative Talents of Higher Level" set up by Ministry of Education in colleges and universities. The tenet of the instauration is to enlarge the investment in renovation in colleges and universities, to develop a group of creative talents and to improve the creativity and competitiveness of scientific and technological teams. A creative team should be a research group of more than 10 people enjoying a long-term cooperation. It should have a relative research focus and a conjunct research issue as well as reasonable structures of specialities and ages. The research area should be in the key fields of medium or long-term planning about science and technology development of the State and Ministry of Education, or the hot issues in important frontiers of international science and technology with free forms and broader research scopes than traditional projects to make teachers more actively engage in scientific research.
