At 9:00 a.m., March 18, 2006, the opening ceremony for NENU's first MPA students was held in the conference room on the 7th floor of the main campu's administration building. On behalf of the university, Sheng Lianxi, the Secretary of the Party Committee, extended his sincere congratulations to the first MPA students. He pointed out that the beginning of MPA program indicates a further progress in the construction and development of NENU's public management discipline. It will have a positive role in improving the quality of the provincial or even national civil servants and enhancing their managerial ability. Finally, he proposed several expectations on and requirements for the MPAs on behalf of the school.
NENU was authorized to set up MPA program in 2004, and started to recruit students in October 2005. The program has five directions: educational economics and management, administrative management, public economic management, land resources management and social security. At present, NENU only recruits part-time students and this year the total registration is 50.
