On March, 22, the Changchun Municipal Government held the Civil Conference on Ethnic Minority Issues as well as the 4 th Awards Conference on National Unity and Progress. NENU's United Front Department of the Party Committee and the College of Continuing Education were awarded the title of Advanced Group on Ethnic Unity. Quan Haoxiu (a Chinese Korean) who is the Vice Chairman of NENU's Ethnic Minority Employees' Friendship Association and a professor from the School of History and Culture, and Associate Professor Zhen Yan, who is from the School of Economics were awarded the title of Advanced Individuals on Promoting Ethnic Unity.
In addition, Professor Yan Jichang from the School of Chemistry (and a member of the provincial CPPCC and Chairman of NENU's Committee of Jiu San Society) and Professor Song Yusiang (Executive Deputy Dean of NENU's Northeast Region Research Institute, member of the provincial CPPCC, and member of the provincial Standing Committee of Jiu San Society) were awarded the tile of Contributors to the Participation in the Deliberation and Administration of State Affairs.
