The grant approval process for 2005's national "Tenth Five-Year-Plan" for education and science research projects has just come to a close. NENU had six project proposals approved among a total of 224 projects. The six projects are: National Young Researchers Foundation Project "The Scope and Method of Teacher Education Curriculum Aiming at Improving Teachers' Ability in Implementing Curriculum" proposed by Associate Professor Lv Lijie from the School of Education Science; Key Projects of Ministry of Education:"Research on Value Issues in Psychological Education" proposed by Professor Liu Xiaoming from the School of Education Science and "Research on the Difficulty of Mathematics Curriculum in Compulsory Education" proposed by Associated Professor Li Shuwen from the School of Mathematics and Statistics; the Ministry of Education's Special Projects for Young Researchers "Research on Evaluation and Promotion of Children's Readiness for School" by Associate Professor Gai Xiaosong from the School of Education Science, "Research on Adolescent Students' Internet Life and Its Moral Guidance" by Associate Professor Sun Caiping from the School of Education Science and "Research on the History of Basic Chinese Music Theories" by Lecturer Liu Mianmian from the School of Music.
The National Education Science Planning Project, the National Artistic Science Planning Project and the National Military Science Planning Project are listed separately in the National Philosophy & Social Science Foundation. They are funded by the National Philosophy and Social Science Foundation, and together with the National Social Science Foundation Projects, they are the highest levels of planning projects in art field. During the tenth Five-Year Plan, the National Planning Office for Education Science organized three grant application processes in 2001, 2003 and 2005. Altogether, 50 projects from NENU were funded, accounting for approximately 2.1% of the total approved projects nationwide and ranking high among the universities directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education and among the national educational research institutions.
