On March 29, NENU held a meeting to summarize and commend 2005's work on sanitation. Vice President and Chairman of NENU's Sanitation Association Zhang Zhiguo attended the meeting. Among other participants were people from the provincial, civil and district Sanitation Associations; relevant personnel from relevant administrative departments; persons in charge of student affairs in each school and some student representatives.
At the meeting, Zhang Zhiguo summarized the achievement made by NENU's Sanitation Association in 2005. The Sanitation Association adopted the principle of serving teaching, research and life. Its work last year revolved around the undergraduate teaching inspection, with special focus on food safety. The achievements the association made included strengthening the organization and guidance of sanitary work, taking vigorous measures to enforce food sanitation, taking preventative measures against the spread of bird flu, obtaining effective results from frequent supervision and examination, and making a positive contribution to the undergraduate teaching appraisal.
When laying out the plan for the sanitation work in 2006, Zhang emphasized that sanitation work is an important component of developing the spiritual aspects of a society, and is also an important part in the preparations for NENU's 60th anniversary ceremony. Thus, we should focus on food safety, dormitory sanitation and the campus environment, be well prepared for NENU's 60th anniversary ceremony, and make contributions to Changchun's construction of a "Civilized and Sanitary City".
The Director of Changchun's Sanitation Commission Liang Xingda awarded NENU the medal of "Advanced Unit in 2005's Sanitation Work" on behalf of the Commission. NENU's 22 advanced sanitary units (e.g. School of Educational Science), 8 advanced units in sweeping snow (e.g.Chengxin Group), 54 dormitories, 215 staff and 344 students were also awarded at the meeting.
