Recently, NENU's Vice Party Secretary Liu Haimin and personnel in charge from the School of Media Science went to Shanghai and signed an cooperation Agreement with Shanghai Education TV Station. Zhang Mingde (Dean of Shanghai Long-Distance Education Group, President of Shanghai Television University, and Director of Shanghai Education TV Station), Song Chengdong (Chairman of Chinese Association for Educational TV Station), and Chai Yongguang (Dean of National Education TV Program Producing Combo ) were also present at the ceremony.
According to the agreement, NENU's School of Media Science and Shanghai Education TV Station will provide each other with a base for internships, the cultivation of talented personnel and the production of TV programs.
In the meantime, the launch ceremony for the epic hundred-episode TV series "Understanding China" was also held in Shanghai. This TV series will be co-produced by NENU and Shanghai Education TV Station, The meeting was presided over by the Central Propaganda Department, the Minister of Education, the Chinese Communist Youth League, the Research Center for Contemporary China and the Chinese Association for Education TV. Personnel from more than 30 provincial companies and organizations also attended the meeting. These companies and organizations include educational TV stations, comprehensive TV stations, centers for electronic teaching, modern educational technology centers of universities and audio & visual production companies.
During the meeting, the participants watched two sample episodes "Snowy Village Celebrates Spring" and "The Charm of Dunhuang". Following its completion in July 2007, the series will be broadcast and sold both at home and abroad.
