A second conference was held by "Passion for NENU", an academic career lecture group under the Publicity Department of the Party Committee, May 10th. Prof. Chen Cai from School of Urban and Environmental Science made a lecture as well as Prof. Huang Baiqu from School of Life Science. The conference, undertaken by School of Life Science and School of Urban and Environmental Science, was attended by Vice President Xue Kang, Liu Haimin, deputy secretary of Party Committee, Li Jin, director of Organization Department of CPC Standing Committee, and persons-in-charge from the concerned schools.
Prof. Chen Cai, the doctoral supervisor and honor professor of NENU, gave a talk on "Some Thoughts on Personal Growth". Chen enrolled in NENU in 1948 and went to Leningrad University of Soviet for further study in 1955. He once was a member of the evaluation group at both the second and the third academic degree committee under State Council and was the director of National World Economic Geography Academy.
Prof. Huang Baiqu delivered a speech on the title of "On Talents―a discussion with youth". Huang received his master's degree on Genetics from NENU in 1981 and Ph.D. from University of Edinburgh in 1986, and then he went on the post doctoral research in America from 1992 to 1994. The professor now is a doctoral supervisor of School of Life Science, director of Cytology and Genetics Research Institute, and the head of the Professors Council of School of Life Science. In addition, he is a member of the evaluation group at academic degree committee under State Council, member of the evaluation group at academic degree committee under National Natural Science Foundation of China, and distinguished professor of China's first Yangtze River Scholar Program.
