On May 31, Professor Liu Wei (a renowned economist, Dean of School of Economics of Peking University and Chief Editor of Economic Science journal) came as a guest speaker to NENU's "High Level Forum on Ideology", and gave the lecture of "Issues on Transforming China's Mode of Economic Growth". The lecture covered four areas: the present level of Chinese economic growth, the problems in Chinese economic growth, the reasons for transforming the mode of economic growth, and the main social restrictions on the transformation.
NENU's administrators Sheng Lianxi, Yang Zhong, Ma Shang, Liu Haimin, Zhao Ying, Liu Yichun, all mid-level administrators and some teacher and student representatives attended the seminar.
Before the lecture, NENU held a ceremony to appoint Professor Liu as visiting professor here at NENU. Vice President Liu Yichun presented the letter of appointment on behalf of the school.
