On June 6th, an expert group, led by Pro. Chen Jiading, former chairman of State Probability and Statistics Institute, Doctoral Supervisor of Beijing University and organized by Department of Science and Technology of Ministry of Education, discussed the construction plan of MOE Key Laboratory of Applied Statistics. President Shi Ningzhong, Vice-president Xue Kang and Zhou Daowei, President Assistant and Chief of Science and Technology Office, attended this discussion. Lei Zhouliang, the Chief of Basic Department of Science and Technology of MOE led the discussion.
President Shi Ningzhong, Director of Applied Statistics Laboratory, explained the plan in detail and answered the questions from the experts.
After hearing the explanation and completing an on-the spot investigation, the experts approved the construction plan and made a consensual decision that the plan is feasible and could pass the examination, because the aim is clear, the content is sophisticated and the method is effective. The plan is believed to be in complete accord with the commandment of MOE. Meanwhile, the expert group put forward poignant suggestions to the forthcoming building work.
The lab will be the third key laboratory of MOE, following the Vegetation and Zoology laboratory and Polycide Science Laboratory.
