NENU Holds "Seminar on the Development of the Field of Marxism in China "

On June 26, 2006, in NENU's Conference Center, NENU's Research Center of Contemporary Marxism in China and the School of Law & Political Science held a seminar on the "Development of the Field of Marxism in China". The goal of the seminar was to further the research on Marxism in China and to promote the development of the field. The seminar was attended by NENU's Vice President Ma Shang, Vice Party Secretary Liu Haimin, and Assistant President and the Head of the Division of Social Science Liu Jianjun, together with relevant personnel from the School of Law & Political Science, and more than 40 scholars and experts from 18 colleges and universities such as Beijing University, Beijing Normal University, Shandong University, Jilin University, East China Normal University, South China Normal University, NENU, etc.

On behalf of the school, Liu Haimin warmly welcomed the experts and scholars and introduced NENU's situation and development. Staff from the School of Law & Political Science introduced the situation of their own School.

Prof. Tian Keqin, Director of NENU's Research Center of Contemporary Chinese Marxism and other experts gave speeches. They discussed the nature and orientation of the research field, and defined its scope. The future development of personnel in the field, and the relationship between Chinese Marxism Research and other disciplines were also discussed. The participants agreed that the seminar was an important step in promoting the development of a doctoral degree program in Marxism in China.
