The 2006 convention of the standing committee of China Ornithology Society was held in NENU from July 18th � 19th. Professor Zheng Guangmei, Honored Director and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the convention with other 15 representatives of the standing committee from state colleges, universities, and research institutes. The representatives were met by NENU's Party Secretary Sheng Lianxi and Assistant President Zhou Daowei.
At the meeting, the preparation for the 7th Cross-Straits Symposium on Ornithology was discussed; meanwhile, the fund projects of Chinese ornithology research were selected. IN addition, these experts visited NENU’s Avian Research Base located in Zuojia Nature Reserve following the meeting.
