On Sep. 27th, Qiao Songlou, Professor of National Defense Universtity came as a guest speaker to NENU's "High Level Forum on Ideology", and gave the lecture of "High-tech War and Modernization of National Defense". NENU's leaders Sheng Lianxi, Ma Shang, Zhao Ying, Liu Yichun, senior officials at deputy-director level and above, members of Professor Committee, persons-in-charge from democratic parties and societies, members of local party publicity and branch party secretaries of party organization, and some teacher and student representatives attended the seminar. Before the lecture, NENU held a ceremony to appoint Professor Qiao as visiting professor here at NENU. Vice President Liu Yichun presented the letter of appointment on behalf of the school.
The lecture elaborated three key words: war, national conditions and mission. Prof. Qiao introduced the distinctions between the high-tech war and traditional war and indicated the new features of high-tech war, such as space reconnaissance, ingenious attack, high-speed reflection, integrated protection and intellectual control; in addition, he attached great importance to the opportunities, the challenges and the modernization of national defense.
