Recently, NENU Institute of Asian Civilizations was established. The academic institution is specialized in the research of Asian history, culture and civilization and the education of postgraduates. Its basic tenet is to foster an academic staff with internationally advanced level and multi-disciplinary research capabilities for Asian culture and civilization, to launch the regional study on Asian civilization and historical culture integrated with international environment, to flourish academy and to promote the peaceful development of China and Asia.
There are 9 professors, 8 doctoral supervisors, 4 associate professors and 7 part-time professors in the institute, which is authorized to recruit postgraduates majoring in Chinese Language and History. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the institute will enroll PhD candidates majoring in "Studies of Asian Civilization" (doctor's degree of history) in its first recruitment from 2008, and compile and publish the academic publication 'Ancient Civilization'in collaboration with NENU Institute of Classical Civilization and NENU Press.
