On July 11, NENU-held 2007 Cross-strait University Students Summer Camp was started. This activity has been attended by 86 teachers and students from 8 universities of Taiwan and 33 from NENU, of which the theme is to pass down Chinese civilization and to construct the bridge of cross-strait friendship.
Among those who attended this opening ceremony were concerned personnel of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council; Wang Zhongren, Director of Jilin Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office; He Jun, Deputy Director of Jilin Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office; Yang Xiaohui, the school's Vice Secretary of Party Committee and Vice President, etc. Yang Xiaohui gave a welcome speech to warmly greet the teachers and students from Taiwan and introduced the school's history and current situation of development. He hoped that by holding this summer camp the youth from Taiwan could know more about Northeast Normal University, Jilin Province and the northeast China, and sense profound and extensive Chinese culture and the same culture origin of the cross-strait people.
To be completed on July 19, this summer camp will cover such activities as lectures, speech contest, sports competition, school visiting, enterprise visiting, sightseeing and holding a party.
