Recently, at the 10th general assembly of the Chinese Mathematical Society of 2007, Associate Professor Wang Yong in the School of Mathematics and Statistics in NENU, with other seven doctors, received Excellent Doctoral Dissertation of Zhong Jiaqin Mathematics Prize. Associate Professor Wang Yong is the first doctor in Northeast China to obtain the prize.
Zhong Jiaqin Commemorating Funds and Zhong Jiaqin Mathematics Prize were established in 1987 in honor of Professor Zhong Jiaqin who is a famous Chinese mathematician. In order to realize his unfulfilled wish of developing Chinese mathematics, people and some Chinese American mathematicians as concerned in Chinese Mathematics set up the funds and prize. Zhong Jiaqin Mathematics Prize aims at awarding and encouraging M.A. and doctoral candidates in Mathematics and at stimulating young scholars to devote themselves to the undertaking of Mathematics. Zhong Jiaqin Mathematics Prize, Hua Luogeng Mathematics Prize and Chen Shengshen Mathematics Prize are the three major Mathematics prizes in China.
