On April 19th, the launching ceremony of 2009 CEAP Local Campaign-"Research and Innovation Program on Public Environmental Policy of Songhua River Basin" & Teacher Training Seminar was held in NENU. China Environmental Awareness Programme (CEAP) is an environmental education program co-initiated by Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) and UNDP, aiming to boost the public environmental awareness of China. "Research and Innovation Program on Public Environmental Policy of Songhua River Basin" is built upon the 5-year accumulated experience of China BELL Green Showcase Course "Public Environmental Policy" in Beijing Normal University. It is an exploration for the innovative course "Research on Public Policy of Water Environment of River Basins" which is carried on by universities of different regions simultaneously for the first time in China.
The program aims to improve the management of water environment and enhance public environmental awareness of the river basins. Bearing its theme on the study of public environmental policy of Songhua River basin, using green showcase courses of NENU, Beijing Normal University and Harbin Normal University as the core, the program is implemented in Beijing, Changchun and Harbin simultaneously. It involves not only teachers and students from environment departments and commercial departments of other universities, but also government, enterprises and non-government organizations in the three cities.
