On June 11th, sponsored by the National Center for Student Assistance Administration and undertaken by NENU, the 2009 Conference on Student Assistance Work in Institutions of Higher Education under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education was held in NENU. Leaders from the National Center for Student Assistance Administration, Cui Bangyan，Zhang Guangming and Ma Wenhua attended the conference. More than 260 leaders from 20 relevant central departments and 116 universities under the leadership of MOE attended the conference.
The major concern of the conference was to summarize and analyze the work on student assistance in institutions of higher education in 2008 as well as to deploy work for 2009. The deployments chiefly rest upon the commutation of newly graduates’ tuition fee and the national loans for supporting students.Party Secretary of NENU Sheng Lianxi was present at the conference and gave a speech. He pointed out that NENU had been paying due attention to student assistance and had made achievements by establishing "double assistance" model.
On behalf of the Ministry of Eduacation, Cui Bangyan delivered a speech on the implementation of the national policies on student assistance. Facing the problems that emerged recently，he proposed six requirements for institutions of higher education.
The Deputy Head of the National Center for Student Assistance Zhang Guangming concluded the conference and extended his appreciation on behalf of MOE and other participating universities for the great efforts made by NENU.
