NENU Student Team Eligible for the National Final of Chinese Universities Shakespeare Festival

Published:April 8, 2010 Review:

In the preliminary round of the 6th Chinese Universities Shakespeare Festival (CUSF) held lately, the King Lear performed by NENU's team has won the recognition and praise of the judges and finally survived the preliminary round, thus proceeding to the national final of the competition. As the only finalist from universities of the northeast region, the play is chiefly performed by Zhan Xinlei, Liu Lin and Wang Bing, undergraduates from the School of Foreign Languages of NENU and directed by Qiu Yunlong. This is the first time for NENU's team to take part in the CUSF.

The Chinese Universities Shakespeare Festival, undertaken by the Chinese University of Hong Kong and funded by the Dr. Tien Chang Lin Technology Innovation Foundation, is a nationwide art activity for college students. This year's CUSF, consisting of training, preliminary round and final round, was launched in the midmonth of November 2009 and is scheduled to last for seven months, with participating teams from dozens of universities of the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
