From June 29th to July 1st, the Second National Curriculum Reform of Basic English and Teacher Development Forum was held in Changchun. It was jointly sponsored by NENU and the National Foreign Language Education Research and Training Center. More than 130 experts and scholars from 33 universities, 45 primary and middle schools and 18 education and scientific research units attended the forum.
At the forum, five areas was involved, including the principle of the new curriculum standards and effectiveness for basic English classroom teaching research, basic English teachers development research, basic English teaching test and evaluation, training model research for basic English teachers of Normal Colleges, basic English in-service teacher development and training model. A total of 28 experts and scholars made presentations at the forum. The research team led by Professor Liu Yongbing from School of Foreign Languages of NENU introduced the research findings of the 2007 National Social Fund Project "Systematic Research on Multiple Factors on the Quality of Basic High School English Teaching".
