Since the implementation of "the twelfth five-year" plan, the Institute for Basic Education Research in Rural Areas――NENU's key research center for social sciences of the Ministry of Education――has been deeply concerned with the solving of theoretical and practical problems of education in rural areas under relevant national policies. Up till now, 2 policy consultation reports of the Institute for Basic Education Research in Rural Areas have been approved by leaders including Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and State Councilor, Liu Yandong, Vice Chairman Raidi of the NPC Standing Committee and Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy, Yan Junqi and Minister of Education Yuan Guiren, etc. During the same period, related advises have been translated into national policies and 6 essays have been reprinted by Xinhua Digest.
