Recently, "Rizhi Award for Academic Studies on World History" set up by NENU has started its first evaluation.
Li Zhichun, who wrote under the pen name Rizhi, was a leading scholar in world history and education of history. On November 14, 2012, the fifth anniversary of his death, NENU set up the "Rizhi Award for Academic Studies on World history" in honor of his contribution to the research on world history and the discipline construction. The appraisal work is carried out worldwide once every five years and prizes are awarded to works with high academic value on ancient world history.
Works eligible for the first "Rizhi Award for Academic Studies on World history" include all academic works on world history (including research works, thesis collection on particular subjects, literature collection and translation). These works should be written in Chinese and published between 1978 and 2007. The relevant majors are world history before 1500 AD, history of individual countries, and regional history (i.e. the history of primitive society, the world ancient history, and the world medieval history). The Committee of Management will invite renowned Chinese historians to be in charge of appraisal and awarding. The award sets up the First Prize( one winner), the Second Prize( two winners), Youth Prize( for those born on and after June 1st, 1963).The final results will be released before November 11th , 2013 and the awarding ceremony will be held on November 11th( the birthday of Lin Zhichun).
