Recently, Chen Xiaohua,one of the 2009th grade government-supported Teacher students of School of Foreign language, donated hemopoietic stem cell voluntarily, becoming the first hemopoietic stem cell donor who has no blood-tie with the patient.
Chen Xiaohua comes from an ordinary farmer family of Jiang County, Deyang, Sichuan Province. She performed pretty well in many aspects in NENU. In 2010, she participated in the blood donation organized by NENU, and voluntarily took part in China Marrow Donor Program. In November 2012, with the first medical comparison and high-resolution examination, Chen Xiaohua's and other four volunteers' cell type coincides with that of a 27-year-old patient with leukemia in Jiangsu Province. Knowing the news, Chen Xiaohua immediately received the second high-resolution type matching and physical examination. As a result, only Chen Xiaohua was qualified among the five. On March 6th, 2013, Chen Xiaohua applied for a leave and went to the NO.1 Hospital Attached to Jilin University. On 11th and 12th, she received peripheral hemopoietic blood cell collection operations twice.
Chen Xiaohua said that as a university student especially a government-supported Normal University student, it was her obligation to help others and repay back to the society, and that it was of great meaning to save a life. Recently, many media have had a wide coverage of Chen's deed.
