On May 10, Secretary of the Party Committee, Sheng Lianxi, accompanied by Ma Shang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and vice president Su Zhongmin, paid a visit to School of Life Sciences and discussed with cadres, members of professor committee and some teachers.
After listening to the school principal's work report and other teachers' speeches, Secretary Sheng expressed his hopes and proposed definite requirements for the development of school especially for the development of the disciplines. He highlighted the significance of sizing up the situation, future planning, and rational planning of disciplines, majors, and research institution under the full development of the school; all faculty members, should actively devote themselves to the development of disciplines; emphasis should be put on the discipline construction and rational age structure of disciplinary professionals so as to maintain a sound development momentum; while consolidating its basis, discipline construction, especially for the secondary discipline construction, should seek interdisciplinary cooperation through innovation, try to make breakthroughs and gain status in its development so as to build up more first-class disciplines in China.
