Recently, at the invitation of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Prof. Avner Friedman from U.S. Academy of Sciences, academia of American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Distinguished Professor of Ohio State University, and Prof. Lou Yuan, deputy director of Institute of Mathematics and Life Sciences, Ohio State University and “One Thousand Intellectuals Plan” scholar of Renmin University of China as well as other scholars visited NENU and gave academic reports on September 9th. Over one hundred teachers and students from the School of Mathematics and Statistics of NENU and of Jilin University listened to the report and showed great interest.
Since 2013, the School of Mathematics and Statistics have invited four winners of National Outstanding Youth Fund in the field of partial differentialequation and six professors from Duke University, Tulane University, Michigan State University, Ohio State University and McGill University of Canada to give academic reports and exchange opinions in NENU. Such kind of academic activities have played an important role in strengthening academic atmosphere, deepening academic communications, promoting academic research, enhancing discipline construction and improving postgraduate education.
