NENU Celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Its Collegiate Relations with Southern Illinois University

This year is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of collegiate relations with Southern Illinois University. Both of the two universities attached much importance to the event and NENU held a celebration ceremony for it. President of Southern Illinois University Professor Rita Cheng, and relevant staff from School of Business and School of Media( six in total)came to visit NENU and attended the celebration.


In October, 1983, SIU President Samett paid a visit to NENU, and established inter-university cooperation by signing an agreement with Hao Shui and Huang Qichang who were then the president and the vice-president of NENU to establish. In the 30 years, the two universities have forged profound friendship after over 30 years of  communication and cooperation.


On the ceremony, NENU President Liu Yichun says that SIU is one of the earliest universities that established friendship with NENU, and NENU has been attaching great importance to the friendship and cooperation between the two universities. Under the background that higher education tends to be internationalized and integrated, the two should maintain frequent visits enhance mutual understanding, and consolidate cooperation in areas of talent cultivation, scientific research and discipline construction. Rita Cheng says that in the past 30 years, the cooperation and communication between the two universities has invigorated the life of the students of both universities, inspiring them to make affirmative contribution to international society. She also expresses her hope to strengthen cooperation, and to create more opportunities for the students, the universities, and the two nations.
