On October 28th, the Ministry of Science held the project acceptance meeting of “Key Technical Research and Demonstration of the Development and Utilization of Ocean Energy”, which is a project of the eleventh Five-year Plan national scientific and technological support program. The project passed the acceptance successfully and NENU was one of the major participating units of the project. Studied and constructed by research group of “Key Technical Research and Demonstration of 20 kW Ocean Current Energy Device”, which was presided over by Professor Zhang Xueming from the School of Physics, NENU in collaboration with China Ocean University and Zhejiang University, the marine underwater power device has been functioning normally since it was launched in water on April 28th this year. The device has fulfilled every index and standard by the Ministry of Science, conquering the key technology of horizontal axis tidal current power-generating device and laying technological foundations for the final formulation of future tidal current electric generator.
