Recently, at the invitation of Office of Social Science and School of Economic in NENU the famous American futurists Mr. and Mrs. Naisbitt came to NENU and gave a speech entitled “Future Belongs to Newly-emerging Nations”. Mr. and Mrs. Naisbitt were also appointed adjunct professors in the School of Economics.
In the report, John Naisbitt mentioned three main changes in the coming decades: a West-centered world order will come to an end and a multi-centered world system is emerging; economy and education will be the main factors supporting the development of future society; city will replace nation and plays a leading role in the multi-centered world system. He held that with the continuously acceleration of urbanization, more and more people will rush into cities and the middle class in China will expand gradually. He also mentioned that education should be the most important sector in economy and society. Ms. Doris Naisbitt mentioned the current problem of household registration system in China and she held that the reform of household registration system should be fair and just.
After the report Mr. and Mrs. Naisbitt communicated with the students present on the topics of “dream pursuing”, competition, educational system, potential cities and China’s population policy.
