On May 30th, with the successful opening of NENU’s 14th Party Congress and the advent of Dragon Boat Festival, NENU grandly observed the 50th session of track and field sports meeting. It is the first time for NENU to hold sports meeting in summer.
Prior to the meeting, NENU students gave a series of wonderful artistic and physical performances, such as Tai Ji Quan, Taichi and rugby match under joyous and enthusiastic atmosphere imbued with a strong cultural flavor.
The opening ceremony began at 8:00 in the morning. School leaders from the party and government class and from different Schools and departments attended the opening ceremony which was presided over by NENU’s vice president Zhang Zhiguo. Later NENU president Liu Yichun gave a speech in which he introduced the impressive achievements NENU had made in competitions at home and abroad, as well as the colorful campus sports activities.
The sports meeting was officially started when a torch was ignited by NENU’s basketball team that has successively won the grand championship of 2013-2014 CUBS. Altogether 19 teams on behalf of each School competed in the game. At the end of the sports meeting, awards were presented to each School in line with their performances.
