On October 24th and 25th, the 40th ACM-ICPC Asia Shenyang Regional Contest was held in Northeast University. 162 competing teams of 111 universities from mainland China, Hong Kong and Korea took part in this contest.
After a heated rivalry, Team Daedalus (Members: 2015 postgraduate Yang Maoyu, 2012 undergraduate Li Miaoyang and 2015 undergraduate Zhang Ligang) coached by associate professor Zhou Zhiguo of School of Computer Science and Information Technology in NENU won the Golden Medal. Team Matrix (Members: 2015 postgraduate Gao Xin, 2012 undergraduate Tao Sheng and Liu Minghao) instructed by associate professor Zhang Jingbo won the Bronze Medal. Team Booqmz(Members: 2013 undergraduate Ma Yuchi, Qin Shuxin and Zheng Jinxin) directed by Li Qing from School of Information and Software Engineering of NENU won the Excellence Award. The teams ranked No.9 and No.10 gained the qualification to the 41th ACM-ICPC world final which will be held in Thailand in May, 2016. This is the sixth China`s university to advance to the world final succeeded by Peking University, Ningbo University, Northeastern University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Harbin Institute of Technology. Also, this is the second time for NENU to enter world final after three years.
