On June 9th, the School of Life Sciences and the National Experimental Teaching Center for Biology held “Keep Childlike Innocence and Discovering Mysteries of Life” public science popularization activities. The event received a total of more than 1,200 primary school students and their parents.
During the event, six experimental teaching labs were opened. The demonstrations included "magical single-celled creatures”, "a colorful microbiological world", "plant micro-world roaming", "a rich magical reaction", "involuntary biological activism" and "various forms of Peter Pan." In addition, a herbarium laboratory and a virtual simulation laboratory were opened to allow the citizens to directly observe the unique flora and fauna and ecological landscape of the Changbai Mountains, and to find the animals and plants in the Changbai Mountains and the magnificent ecological landscape through simulation software.
The event is the closing ceremony of the public science popularization activities month for the "approaching the frontier of science and exploring the mysteries of life" held by the School of Life Sciences. It is also one of the series of activities for the college's cultural development. It aims to popularize scientific knowledge, stimulate scientific interest and create an atmosphere of innovation by means of popularization of science. Meanwhile, it gives important attach to build college scientific research platform, deepens the cultural construction of the college, excavates the characteristic culture of the Academy, and give full play to the function of university education.
