Recently, the Eighth National University Chinese Classics Forum of 2018 hosted by the Yuelu Academy of Hunan University and the School of Chinese Classics of Renmin University of China and the School of Chinese Classics of Wuhan University came to a successful conclusion. Wang Zhe, a 2016 Ph.D. student of the School of History and Culture of NENU, won the first prize for the essay The Narrative Study of the Texts Passed on Offering the Humble Apology and the essay from 2017 Master Student Zhao Shidi, The Reverence and Cultural Identity of North Korea to Wen Tianxiang in the Ming and Qing Dynasties won the third prize.
The forum received 350 essays from major universities across the country. After rigorous evaluation by experts, 65 excellent essays were selected. The essays of the meeting place cover different professional fields such as literature, history and philosophy, focusing on the history of ideology and culture, and using methods such as literature research, pedigree and multidisciplinary analysis, covering all ages from ancient China to modern times. Compared with previous years, these award-winning essays have a wide selection of topics, novel perspectives and diverse methods.
