Academician Tang Yong of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Visited NENU as a Guest Scientist at the "Great Lecture Hall - The Nature Beauty of Literature of NENU"

Published:September 21, 2018 Review:

On September 20th, the first "Great Lecture Hall- The Nature Beauty of Literature of NENU" with the topic of "Explore the Sciences - Scientists Visit the Campus" was held in NENU, hosted by the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee and the School of Chemistry. Academician Tang Yong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy director of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to give a report entitled The Advance in Failure and Contingency for the teachers and students of NENU.

In the report, Tang Yong took the cognition and understanding of chemistry research as the main line from three aspects: the relation between chemistry and human civilization, the contingency and necessity in chemical discoveries, and the advance in failures and contingency. Combining his own research experience and examples in the development of chemical research, Tang Yong explained to the teachers and students of NENU profound theories in simple terms. He said that in the practice of scientific research, failure and contingency are important discoveries and signals, which are the prelude to success. On the road of life, failure and setbacks will provide important opportunities for the goal and orientation of life. He encouraged teachers and students to persist in their dreams, to do complicated things simply, to do simple things persistently, to do persistent things with heart, then everyone will be able to achieve success. At the end of the report, Tang Yong also had an interactive exchange with the teachers and students, giving detailed answers to the questions raised by the teachers and students.

During the visit, Tang Yong also conducted in-depth academic exchanges with teachers and students of organic chemistry in NENU.
