From September 28 to 29, the Geograph Discipline Review Group of the Academic Degrees Office of the State Council came to NENU to investigate the postgraduate programs of geography. A panel of nearly 50 experts from more than 30 universities and research institutes including Beijing University, Beijing Normal University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Nanjing University, and the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agricultural Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences participated in the investigation. Xu Haiyang, Vice President of NENU, and Sun Wei, Vice President of the School of Graduate attended the meeting.
On September 29th, the working conference of "Graduate Training and Research of the Geographical Discipline Review Group of the State Council Academic Degree Office" was held in Changchun. The meeting was chaired by Shi Peijun, leader of the review team and Vice President of Beijing Normal University. At the meeting, Xu Haiyang delivered a speech on behalf of NENU. Wu Zhengfang, Dean of the School of Geography, gave a welcome speech on behalf of the college, and gave a report titled "The cultivation of graduate students majoring in Geography at NENU". He introduced the postgraduate programs in detail from four aspects:the college profile, the postgraduate training system, the training conditions, and the training results.
