Recently, in the Final of the 24th China Daily "21st Century Coca-Cola Cup" National English Speaking Competition(University Group), Wang Zhisheng, a Grade-One undergraduate from the School of Information Science and Technology, won the third prize(advisor: Zhang Liwei), Power of Care Special Award(National Top Ten) and Most Popular Speaker Award. More than 70 contestants from the universities like Tsinghua University and Nankai University participated in the competition.
The competition was jointly sponsored by China Daily and Coca-Cola Greater China, undertaken by the 21st Century English Education Media, and co-organized by English-Speaking Union, TESOL International Association, American Educational Teaching Service Center, UK Boarding Schools Admissions Services, Thailand TESOL and other institutions. The theme is "Reform and Opening-up: A personal perspective". The competition is divided into three stages:campus competition, regional final and national grand final. It attracted nearly 100,000 participants from 24 divisions across China.
