NENU Hosted the First Northeast Bio-mathematics Seminar

From November 23 to 25, the first Northeast Bio-mathematics Seminar was held in NENU, hosted by the School of Mathematics and Statistics of NENU and co-sponsored by the National Tianyuan Mathematics Northeast Center and the Bio-mathematics Professional Committee of the Chinese Mathematics Association.

The opening ceremony was attended by many professors, including Professor Xu Haiyang, vice-President of NENU, Professor Gao Hang, standing member of the Party Committee, Professor Cui Jingan, director of the Bio-mathematics Committee of the Chinese Mathematics Association and dean of School of Science of Beijing Architectural University and vice-director and secretary-general of the Bio-mathematics Professional Committee of the Chinese Mathematics Association, Professor Ma Wanbiao of Beijing University of Science and Technology, Professor Zhang Ran, vice director of the Executive Committee, vice president of the School of Mathematics of Jilin University and vice director of the Northeast Center of National Tianyuan Mathematics and Professor Gao Wei, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mathematics and Statistics. More than 80 experts and scholars from 33 universities in Northeast China and more than 20 postgraduates attended the seminar. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Fan Meng, dean of the School of Mathematics and Statistics. At the seminar, Xu Haiyang, Cui Jingan, Zhang Ran and Gao Wei delivered speeches respectively.

This seminar was hosted under the background of the national strategy of revitalizing Northeast China and the construction of 'double-first-class', in order to further promote the in-depth development of Bio-mathematics research in Northeast China. The purpose of this seminar is to exchange the latest research results and developments of mathematics and biology interdisciplinary fields in Northeast China, and to explore the urgent needs at present. To solve the hot issues, we should build a platform for the exchange and cooperation of experts, young scholars and students in the field of Bio-mathematics research in Northeast China, as well as develop an academic community of Bio-mathematics in Northeast China.
