On December 15, the Teachers' Teaching Development Center organized the Assessment of New Teachers' Teaching in 2018. Fifty new full-time teachers and postdoctoral from 15 colleges and departments were assessed by 12 expert judges in four groups.
The assessment is in the form of "micro-lessons". New teachers submit instructional designs and gave 12-minute lectures based on the courses they were going to offer soon. The Teachers' Teaching Development Center invited experts and scholars to make an 8-minute on-site assessment and comprehensive evaluation of the newly recruited teachers from six aspects: teaching objectives, teaching design, teaching attitude, teaching process, teaching effect and teaching characteristics. Teachers' personal micro-lessons and expert comments videos were edited and distributed to all colleges (or departments) so that new teachers could sum up their classroom experience and improve their teaching. At the same time, they can cooperate with the center to provide more targeted teaching training and consultation. In order to encourage new teachers to participate actively in teaching, the Teacher Teaching Development Center will award the top two teachers in each group.
