Published:May 5, 2019 Review:

Recently, the knot meeting of the major project of “Chinese Translation and Research of Core Historical Documents in the Frank Era” funded by National Social Science Fund was held in the School of History and Culture. Professor Wang Jinxin, from the Center for History of World Civilizations of NENU, is the chief expert of the project. Professor Guo Xiaoling and Professor Yang Gongle, from the School of History of Beijing Normal University, Professor Liu Beicheng, from the History Department of Tsinghua University, Professor Meng Guanglin, from the School of History of Renmin University of China, Director Zheng Dianhua, from the Works Department of the Commercial Press, Professor Zhang Guangxiang, from the Institute of History and Culture of Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, Professor Wang Yunlong, from the Institute of Ancient Chinese History of NENU constituted an expert panel of apparaisal. Meanwhile, Bi Xiumei, office director of the Jilin Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning Fund, and Wang Zhanren, Vice President of NENU, were invited to attend the meeting and delivered speeches.

At the meeting, starting from the scarcity and insufficiency of the Chinese translation literature in the Frank era, Professor Wang Jinxin, the chief expert of the project, introduced the purpose, tasks, implementation and results of the research on behalf of the project team. The experts listened carefully and agreed that the completion of the project is of great significance to the development of the world history research in China, discipline construction and learner training. It is believed that the research results of this project reflect the latest development in the research of medieval historical materials, especially the core historical documents of the Frank Caroling era, and it is of great academic value to reconstruct the overall outlook of Frank society and the process of political evolution and to promote the study of the early western history of the Middle Ages, the history of early western civilization and the history of western medieval history.

The completion of this major project and the output of major academic achievements indicate that our university has made a new breakthrough in the translation and research of historical documents in the middle ancient history of the world, which will certainly help to promote the construction and development of the “double first-class” discipline in the world history.
