The Shanghai Ranking of top-ranking science disciplines covers 54 disciplines, involving science, engineering, life sciences, medicine and social sciences. The target of this ranking is more than 4000 universities in the world. A total of more than 1700 universities from 86 countries and regions eventually appear on the list of various disciplines. 233 colleges and universities in total in mainland China were listed, the total number of which was 2001, second only to the United States, ranking second in the world. Compared with last year, the number of universities and the total number of universities listed in the Mainland of China increased by 15% and 18% respectively, both of which have improved to a certain extent.
